You can find updates here from the Lead Team (was Transition Team) over the next few months.
Email sent to the Seeds Community on Friday, January 10th:
Seeds lead team met earlier this week, our first time together in the post Ted and Dar reality. So here we are, moving forward with both gratitude and confidence – gratitude for the legacy of Ted and Dar’s leadership and confidence that Seeds has the capacity to sustain and flourish. The January 7 meditation from the Centre for Action and Contemplation captures our current time well: We are in a time of wineskin change. Let’s celebrate instead of wringing our hands. Let’s thank God for the old wineskin and the grace it carried to us. And let’s celebrate the new wineskin with its expansive fermentation. Let’s do both. We don’t have to choose.
As we move forward, it is important to share information related to our transition journey:
- January – November(ish) the various teams at Seeds will continue to do the work necessary to sustain and flourish.
- March 1 Marla Langelotz will join Seeds Church as interim pastor on a part-time basis. The details of her role and responsibilities will be determined in the near future.
- April 1 a job ad for a full-time position at Seeds Church will be posted.
- May – June is the anticipated time frame for the interviewing/hiring process.
- September to November is the anticipated time frame for the new leadership to begin their role with Seeds Church.
- Jeff Friesen from Mennonite Church Manitoba will serve as our mentor moving forward as Karen Schellenberg is retiring from her role
I can not imagine Altona without Seeds. As the survey and round table responses revealed, Seeds Church is needed in Altona because of its unique role as a welcoming space to explore matters of faith and to experience community. While the future is uncertain, there is no doubt Seeds will continue to make Jesus real because the collective commitment, capacity and vision needed to sustain our well-being exists within us and is God-infused.
As lead team, we will strive to lead in ways that guide us to stay open, connected and responsive. As lead team, we also invite you to be responsive to the shoulder taps that undoubtedly will come during these next months.
All will be well,
Ashley, Kayla, Kevin, Lisa, Nick & Jonathan

Below is the Organizational Chart of Seeds for the next few months, if you are interested in seeing who will be doing what at Seeds.

Here is the key information shared from the team so far in fall:
- The transition team is working with Mennonite Church Manitoba (Karen Schellenberg) to hire an interim pastor in January, 2025. The position would be part time, with the scope of responsibilities to be determined in conversation with the candidate.
- The transition team will be hosting two focus group conversations: Saturday October 26 from 9-11 and Sunday October 28 6:30-8:30. Along with some great eats, the goal of the conversations is to gather insight from the Seeds community about their hopes and dreams for Seeds. More information will follow.
