International Witness Sunday on Oct. 24 – Note giving needs
As you prepare to celebrate International Witness Sunday on October 24, please prayerfully consider giving generously. Giving for International Witness has been slower this year than expected and your help is greatly appreciated. Designate your gift to a specific program or to International Witness where most needed.
The focus of this year’s International Witness Sunday is on experiencing God’s call, drawing inspiration from the Mennonite Church Canada denominational “Vision: Healing and Hope” statement. For more info, visit, mennonitechurch.ca/IW-Sunday.
Prayer for Gidimit’en land protectors, MCBC group opposes pipeline dev’t Near Houston, B.C., the Gidimt’en clan of the Wet’suwet’en nation are trying to protect the Wedzin Kwa River from the Coastal Gaslink pipeline project. They have occupied a drilling site and have invited allies – including Mennonite Church Canada partner Christian Peacemaker Teams – to help defend their land. Please pray for peace as RCMP harass and threaten to arrest land protectors. MCBC’s Indigenous Relations Task Group has published a letter urging the government to stop supporting the development of the pipeline due its infringement of Indigenous Nations’ right to free, prior and informed consent.
