Next Wednesday, February 17th is the beginning of Lent. Like Advent is the season of preparation for Christmas, Lent is a time that helps us prepare for the celebration of the new life of Easter. The season coincides with the time of year, when days are slowly becoming longer and the first hints of growth begin. This year as we struggle to be connected as a church community, you can participate in the following ways.
Ash Wednesday Zoom Service – 6:30pm – This short service will be family friendly and quite short. Darlene explains what you will need in the above video (basically candles, ashes and olive oil). Zoom link at the bottom of this post.
Lenten Notebook and Box exchange – one of our key values at Seeds is connection, and yet in this season we are unable to be connected in the ways that we really enjoy and value. The idea is to pass around a Notebook and Box to help us connect. The notebook is for sharing reflections, poems, scriptures, song lyrics, art, or what every else you would like to share with your community. The box is there so that you can put something of symbolic value, to represent what you are hoping to leave behind as a preparation for the new life that Easter offers. If you would like to participate please signup by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Weekly Sunday Lent Reflection Videos and Prompts – Each Sunday morning we will have a lenten video reflection and prompt question so that you can blow out one of the 7 candles of Lent. Again there is more info in the video.
