Dear friends in Christ,
I trust this message finds you well. In these challenging times, many of us sense a deep need for prayer in our personal and community life. With this in heart, Altona United Church will be hosting an evening of prayer, open to all, under the theme “A Night of Hope and Healing” on Tuesday, 30 September, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., inspired by the promise of Psalm 30:5: “Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
This hour will be set apart for silent prayer, open to all, as together we lift before God the concerns of our community, our nation, and the wider world. Scripture encourages us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7).
It will be a simple yet sacred time of seeking God’s presence, healing, and renewal. You are invited to share your prayer requests by 21 September so they may be included. We also ask that your congregation appoint one person who can offer a prayer during the gathering. Kindly share this invitation within your churches and communities. At the entrance, a prayer jar will be placed where personal concerns may be written down, which our worship team will hold in prayer afterward. If you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to contact me at souravnag58@gmail.com or by phone at 431-733-9787.
With gratitude,
Rev. Sourav Nag
