Seeds Prayer Retreat – Oct. 28 & 29

Seeds Prayer Retreat – Fri., Oct. 28, 7-9 p.m. & Sat., Oct. 29, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m at the eXchange. There will be a labyrinth, centering prayer, lectio divina, and plenty of solo time. Everyone welcome!

Come for either day, or both or just come and walk the labyrinth. Bring your Bible, journal, a pillow, and your lunch (Saturday).

What is a labyrinth?  A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It is a meandering but purposeful path that combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral. The labyrinth represents a journey to our own centre and back again out into the world. Labyrinths have been used since ancient times as meditation and prayer tools.

How is the labyrinth used?  There are many ways and many reasons to walk the labyrinth. You may simply step in and begin walking. You may walk with an intention of openness, being curious and listening for God speaking to you. You may enter with a question. You may carry a prayer of intercession for someone as you walk. You may walk seeking calm, peace, or rest.

At the center, you may simply turn around and retrace your steps out. Or you may linger as long as you’d like, in prayer or meditation, before you journey out. The journey out may be different than the journey in.
There is no wrong way to walk the labyrinth. We journey in and journey out. Each experience is unique.

Why walk the labyrinth?  You may simply be curious. You may walk the labyrinth to help bring quiet and peace to your mind. You may be facing a decision and walking the labyrinth may help bring clarity. You may use it as a tool to connect to your deeper self. You may use it as a way to enter into a dialogue with God.
