The day’s events include:
– Rainbow Church at 10:30am at Covenant Mennonite Church (363 8 St, Winkler). Lead by Erika from AMC Altona.
– Rainbow Makers Market and fundraising lunch beginning at 12pm. We’re partnering with a local charity for the lunch again this year.
– Speeches at 1pm, followed by the Pride March in the park and entertainment back at the site
A note from Callum:
“Many of our Seeds Community have faithfully participated in Pride events in Altona, Morden, Carman, Winnipeg and elsewhere over the years, and I wanted to reach out to you because I believe your presence in Winkler this year would be deeply meaningful.
Much of the opposition surrounding Pride in our region is expressed through religious language and identity. For many queer people in the Pembina Valley, especially those raised in church communities, it can be powerful simply to see people of faith publicly showing support, welcome, and care.
I would love to see local churches attend together, bring banners or signs, wear affirming symbols, participate in the march in the park, and join us for Rainbow Church in the morning at 10:30am. A visible faith presence can help communicate that Christian community is not defined solely by exclusion or hostility, but also by compassion, justice, hospitality, and solidarity.
I am so touched to see the work Lori Hiebert at Altona Mennonite Church has put into creating the ‘God’s Love is Fully Inclusive’ rainbow quilt banner (See photo below). It will be a beautiful visual symbol. I hope others in our community will express their support in other visual ways as they see fit.”

Please note: Pembina Valley Pride is not a registered charity, therefore no tax receipts will be issued. In order to be recognized as a registered charity, we would have to forgo any political activism and that’s something we simply aren’t able to do.
