“21 Things You May Not Know about the Indian Act” – A Conversation on Reconciliation

Where: Worship Centre at the eXchange

When: 9:30 – 10:30am

What to bring: 21 Things You May Not Know about the Indian Act” by Bob Joseph  There are still some copies of the book available and we will order more if needed.

Who: Everyone welcome (there will be no Childcare provided so keep this in mind.)

Why:

  • To learn/unlearn true stories of Indigenous history.
  • To consider steps towards reconciliation that can be taken individually.
  • To consider steps towards reconciliation that can be take as a Seeds community.

Key Questions:

  • What do we need to learn and understand about Indigenous perspectives that we have not had the opportunity to learn and understand?
  • What do we need to learn and understand settler history that we have not learned or understood?
  • What are steps I/we can take towards truth and reconciliation?

What to bring: phenology wheel from last time, writing utensil, lawn chair, clothes for the weather.

Who: Everyone welcome

What: This session we will be exploring The Thanksgiving Address which is an indigenous acknowledgment of the connection between people, earth, waters, plants, animals, birds, winds, sun, moon, stars, as well as the unseen spiritual forces. Did you know that Thanksgiving Day is inspired by our indigenous neighbours? Join us to explore gratitude as an avenue to joy and connection.
