Mennonite Church Manitoba Update

Mennonite Church Manitoba Update

Sterling Mennonite Fellowship worship service for MC Canada – Aug 29

Sterling Mennonite Fellowship in Winnipeg, Manitoba is joining together with a collection of Mennonite churches in Manitoba for this week’s nation-wide worship service. The scripture text for this Sunday is James 1:17-27 which leads us to reflect on what true religion is all about. As we think back on this pandemic season, we are going to hear from a variety of churches about how COVID-19 has forced us to discern what the church is truly about and how that has looked like in our particular contexts. Thanks to all those who made this service happen. https://mennonitechurch.ca/worshipservices

MCM Financial Update

At our annual Gathering in March, we approved a deficit budget for 2021 primarily due to expected losses in our Camps with Meaning program with uncertainties surrounding COVID-19. We are glad to report that, due to the generosity of many MCM folks and others in the recent “Ring Up the Cash” COVID-relief campaign for Camps and some grants for Camps from the Winnipeg Foundation, we are doing better than the “worst-case scenario” we had anticipated. However, our general giving from congregations is tracking lower than usual this year.
We know COVID and the drought this summer have hit some congregations especially hard, but as churches work out their budgets over the next few months please consider forwarding your planned funds for our collective MCM ministries in more equal payments rather than waiting until the end of the year. Individual donations to MCM are also always welcome via our website or by cheque to the MCM offices. We are grateful for your generosity!
