Springfield Heights Mennonite Church is looking for a Director of Children and Youth Ministries. This position is .05 FTE (20 hours a week) student position for a 1-year term starting at the beginning of September 2021. We are looking for a passionate, outgoing, creative, and fast learner person to serve our Children and Junior and Senior High Youth. Join Hope Mennonite’s Justice Team in one of three simultaneous services as we give gratitude to Water Protectors who are defending waters and wild rice beds in Minnesota from the Line 3 pipeline expansion. INDIGENOUS-SETTLER RELATIONS
Supporting #LandBack In 1996, the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples stated that a central path to healing the broken relationship between Settler and Indigenous peoples was the reparation of a good amount of land. Hhow can churches support Indigenous #landback movements? A coalition of Anabaptists has assembled a booklet with stories from Canada and the U.S. that offers courageous imagination and “next steps”: from restitution funds in church budgets, to sharing inheritance monies, to supporting peaceful frontline reoccupations. Call on Canadian bishops to make papal apology possible In 2015, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission called on the Pope to make an apology to survivors of Indian residential schools here in Canada (Call to Action #58). But the Pope—an ardent supporter of Indigenous peoples’ rights, dignity and wellbeing— cannot come without an express invitation from the Canadian Council of Catholic Bishops. This is not just a Catholic issue, but a matter of concern for all Christians and all Canadians. We need the bishops to heed the call of survivors so that this vital step toward healing can take place. Consider signing the following petition, crafted by Catholic colleagues.
