MCI Update

MCI Update

After a year filled with uncertainty, unwanted change, and often discomfort – we’re inspired by the opportunity to learn from each other. Beloved MCI teacher, Mr. Tim Wiebe, once said: “Teaching is not a one-way street. You learn as much from your students as they from you. If you don’t then you’re not a good teacher. I’m sorry but it’s true. It’s a mutuality, which is part of Christianity. The community which is one of the essences. It is the essence of who we are as a people. It’s deeply rooted in Gelassenheit, which is a yieldedness to the holy spirit to guide us in daily life as a friend.”

This year we had a deep desire to find unique ways to be community together – even while apart. Over the last months, we have worked alongside Laura Woelk (’16) and Mick Friesen (’85) to create an MCI Publication reflecting on the year. The publication explores the concepts of HOPE & LAMENT through art, poetry, prayers, photography, and more from the perspective of MCI students and alumni! To order your own copy visit: https://mciblues.net/hope-lament/. The publication will be shipped/ready for pick-up in August. We hope the art connects with you and helps you feel connected to the greater MCI community.

In the coming days and weeks, we ask that you pray for us in the following ways:

  1. For our students as they prepare for exams. We pray that their anxieties are calmed, their minds are focused, and that they are filled with the wisdom and knowledge they need.
  2. For year-end giving. As we approach the end of 2021 we ask you to join us in prayer for continued giving to MCI. We have experienced great generosity this year, and are deeply grateful for the way our community has continued to support us.
