Forest Church on Sunday, Sept. 30 afternoon

In light of recent rains we will be heading to the Pembina Valley Provincial Park instead of the Morden Lake because the trails are grassy and should be less muddy. Meet at the exchange at 12:45 to car pool. Please bring your provincial park pass if you have one. All vehicles are required to have one and there is no option to buy one there. We plan to do a 2 hour-ish hike which includes a trip up the observation tower for a fantastic view of the valley. There are shorter hikes for those who would prefer. We’ll have a short reflection in the parking lot before the hike and then just go out and enjoy the fall forest. You should be back home at 4:00 or 4:30.

This is the short reflection that we will do before our hike for Forest Church on Sunday afternoon. Whether or not you are planning to join us, we invite you to take some time this week to reflect on the following:
A leaf’s green colour is made by chlorophyll which is what helps the plant convert sunlight and carbon dioxide into their food (and ours for that matter). When the sap stops flowing in the fall, leaves lose their ability to make chlorophyll and the green disappears, revealing the other colours that were there all along – yellow, orange, red…
We are made in the image and likeness of God, but so many things can get in the way of us being able to see that in ourselves and in others. We hide. We pretend. We puff up. We shrink. But what if we could live out of our true colours more often, our true identity in God, our true selves. Reflection: What could I change to be able to live out of my true self more of the time?
