Philippians 2

An encouragement to follow Christ’s example; Jesus gave up everything for the cause. Paul urges the Church of Philippi to continue doing what they’re already doing; living in responsive obedience; energetic in  their life of salvation; reverent and sensitive before God. Later in the chapter Paul talks about Epaphroditus, who nearly died. Paul says “His death would have been one huge grief piled on top of the others.” (Verse 7) For me this is a glimpse into the human side of Paul. I’ve been struck how strong he is in his letters, despite his circumstances. Here’s one small window into how difficult this time must have been for him.

Jesus, help me live a life of responsive obedience, help me to embrace the energy that you offer through this life of salvation, and create in me a clean heart  oh God, reverent and sensitive before you. My Jesus; the waves of fear and anxiety are lapping at my feet again. Not the crashing waves I’ve felt before. Little things add up and I question where all of this is heading. Then I read your word and feel your Spirit moving inside me and I find peace. Help me step out in wonder; embracing this adventurous life you’ve given me. What’s next Father?

Amen!
