From the Palestine/Israel Resolutions committee of MC Canada, MCM Chapter – In 1948, Jewish paramilitary groups forcibly displaced over 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and land, an event which Palestinians refer to as “Nakba” or “catastrophe” in English. A commemoration will be held on Tuesday, May 15, starting at 4:30 pm at Memorial Park, Winnipeg – Osborne St. at Broadway Ave. Please join us in showing solidarity with these refugees.

Since the protests of the ‘Great March of Return’ began on the 30th of March, forty Palestinians have been killed and over two thousand have been injured in Gaza by the Israeli occupation forces. Marchers are protesting the Israel imposed blockade in place since 2007. Building materials, food, and fuel are limited. Medicines, and electricity are in short supply limiting health care possibilities for the wounded thousands. The United Nations states that Gaza will be unlivable by 2020.

Are you a University student who is looking for a place to live in Winnipeg? Students living at Emmaus House support each other academically, spiritually, in lives of service, healthy living and in life-giving relationships.  If you are interested in exploring what it means to live intentionally in a Christian community, check us out at: emmaushousewinnipeg.ca.  We are currently taking applications for just the summer months and/or the 2018/19 academic year.
